BDS® has consent with Truck Manufacturers

In 2oo1 when Holland and Belgium legally obliged the use of Anti- Blind Spot Mirrors on trucks the BDS® Dead angle mirror system received letters of consent and no objection to install a BDS® Mirror on below mentioned Truck Brands /Types. These documents are based on the TNO report 01.OR.NT.0101.1/JvdH for the field of vision. The Dutch and Belgium governement listed the BDS® as a product valid for governement subsidy.

SCANIA approves BDS®Blind Spot Mirror

Information :

Scania has officially approved the BDS® Dead angle mirror for the retrofit market of Scania Trucks in Europe .

Scania Partnumber is 1778382 and can be ordered at Scania Parts Europe .

Reason for Scania to chose for the BDS® option is the fact of just one partnumber for all the Scania truck models.
Investment as for material and installation time is very competative.
The BDS® holds all 97/2003/EC and 38/2007/EC approvals for Class IV and V and interior mirror.

All trucks registered after 1-1-2000 with weight over 3.5 tons must be retrofitted with a Anti- Blind Spot Mirror before 1 st April 2009 .

Tiefensee: Lkw müssen verbesserte Spiegel gegen "toten Winkel" nachrüsten

Der EU-Ministerrat hat heute in Brüssel die Richtlinie zur Nachrüstung schwerer Lastkraftwagen mit verbesserten Spiegeln verabschiedet. Der Vorschlag geht zurück auf eine Initiative Deutschlands und soll künftig dazu beitragen, schwere Verkehrsunfälle von Lastkraftwagen mit Radfahrern, Motorrädern und Fußgängern zu verhindern. Durch den nachträglichen Einbau der Spiegel soll der gefürchtete "tote Winkel" beseitigt und das indirekte Sichtfeld der Lkw-Fahrer erweitert werden.

Dazu erklärte der amtierende EU-Ratsvorsitzende, Bundesverkehrsminister Wolfgang Tiefensee:

"Das ist eine gute Entscheidung für mehr Verkehrssicherheit. Damit kommen wir dem Ziel einer europaweiten und einheitlichen Nachrüstpflicht für Lkw entscheidend näher. Spätestens bis April 2009 müssen innerhalb Europas alle im Verkehr befindlichen großen Lkw über 3,5 Tonnen Gewicht mit diesen Spiegeln nachgerüstet werden. Für neu zugelassene Lkw gilt die Ausrüstungspflicht bereits ab Ende Januar 2007. Nur wer sieht, was und wer sich rechts vom Lkw befindet, kann schwere, oft tödliche Unfälle vermeiden."

Die Nachrüstpflicht gilt für alle Lkw, die ab 1. Januar 2000 zugelassen worden sind.
